The government’s Good Work Plan, which came into effect on 6 April 2020, strengthened employment rights and introduced a number of changes for employers to implement in order to remain compliant.
As of this date:
All staff are now entitled to a written statement of terms on or before the first day of employment.
The reference period for calculating an average week’s pay increased from 12 weeks to 52 weeks.
Contracts will need to include information on normal working hours, sick pay entitlement, details of leave, and more.
