COVID-19 Live Q&A: Harnessing a Hybrid Working Model

The COVID-19 pandemic forced employers to rethink the way they work overnight and trust in their staff to get the job done from home. However, despite initial scepticism, this spontaneous remote working experiment has, in many cases, proved infinitely more successful than expected – with many employers having concluded that it works. In fact, large employers such as Nationwide and Santander have already announced branch closures.

Given the tangible organisational benefits, including reduced overheads and recruitment that is no longer geographically confined, it is hardly surprising that, according to Forbes, one-third of HR leaders expect at least 40% of their staff to work primarily from home post-pandemic.

However, others warn that companies may regret jumping on the remote work bandwagon due to the potential impact on the quality of teamwork and collaboration. Some even argue that any perceived increase in productivity/performance that may result from flexible working is likely to be exaggerated due to companies’ difficult financial circumstances brought on by the pandemic.

During this free seminar, we will help you to weigh up whether hybrid working will work for you and, if you do decide on this model, what you need to know from a legal perspective.

Hosted by our Head of Team and Solicitor, Jane Hallas, alongside special guest Stephanie Robinson, Director of HR Consultancy from our partners Law at Work, this 40-minute interactive session will cover:

  • How to ensure alignment with your organisational values, aims and objectives;
  • Why one size does not fit all;
  • Considering the terms and conditions of employment;
  • Alignment with other policies and procedures;
  • Discrimination issues;
  • The process for dealing with requests; and
  • Data protection and confidentiality issues.

With businesses already developing their plans for the post-pandemic workplace, it is vital that you are well prepared to deal with an influx of flexible working requests and know how to manage concerns confidently and compliantly.

We welcome you to submit your questions ahead of time so that our experts can answer them live during the session.
