Equality & Diversity Training

All employers have a legal obligation to protect their people against discrimination. Encouraging greater awareness and understanding of the different protected characteristics can reduce the chance of complaints, disciplinary action or an employment tribunal claim and avoid the cost and disruption to the organisation.

Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for newly promoted managers and those who have some experience of managing people, but not had any formal management training or require a refresher.

Learning Outcomes

  • The aim of this course is to raise awareness of the nine protected characteristics within the Equality Act
  • To understand the different types of discrimination and the employer/ employee duties in relation to preventing discrimination
  • To explore and consider issues of empathy and sympathy by exploring stereotypes
  • To recognise the benefits of embracing difference
  • To understand what good practice means
  • To understand what action can be taken against employees who infringe equal opportunities principles

  • Provide you with a Legal overview – Equality Act 2010
  • Knowledge and understand of Protected Characteristics and forms of Discrimination – direct and indirect
  • Understanding Harassment and Victimisation
  • Reasonable Adjustments explained
  • Employer’s and Individual’s Liability explained
  • How to prevent discrimination in the workplace
  • How to deal with Complaints
    • Informally
    • Formally; and
    • When Mediation may be necessary

Half a Day workshop

9.30am to 12.30pm (unless otherwise agreed)
